“Seeing the Future Through New Eyes”
Presentation on July 27, 2008
Washington, D.C.
Together, the four Davis brothers have logged nearly a century of work focused on sustainability, integrating science, law, human nature and spiritual beliefs. They bring an eclectic mix of viewpoints aimed at stimulating inquiry and debate, and creating NEW approaches to our global future. Born and raised in a blue-collar household in Chicago, the four pursued different careers that all share a common thread: the health and sustainability of our world.
Wayne S. Davis, an innovative governmental scientist, addresses the necessity of objective biological criteria for assessing the health and sustainability of ecosystems. Earon S. Davis, writer, bodyworker and former attorney and environmental health advocate, demystifies human nature to remove cultural and political obstacles to sustainable living. Geary M. Davis, Chinese Medicine practitioner and former hospital Chief Information Officer, discusses spiritual approaches to the necessary transformations to sustainability. Brian H. Davis, a collaborative environmental attorney with experience at EPA and 3M, presents why and how businesses must incorporate environmental values to succeed.
The attitudinal shifts each Brother advocates fit together in an understandable foundation for consensus building and improved decision-making. Every element of society, including business, culture, and individual health attitudes impacts our finite planet. As economic and environmental sustainability are interdependent, environmental concerns must translate into effective actions which encourage us to care for ourselves and our world. Let’s re-design our cultural, economic, scientific, government policy and regulatory institutions to embrace the values of sustainability and responsibility at all levels.
Brian H. Davis, J.D., M.A., created Environmental Advantage Law, LLPC with 25 years in environmental law with the U.S. EPA, 3M, and Ecolab. His environmental law practice, teaching and community service promote harmonizing business and environment. Brian is appointed by Governor Pawlenty to the Minnesota Clean Water Council, holds an emergency management planning committee position and is adjunct faculty at the University of Minnesota Law School. Brian founded the Jewish Energy Project, is a Minnesota Environmental Initiative Board Member, and is Minnesota Coordinator of Republicans for Environmental Protection
